I'm teaming up with Sarah Young at A Rocky Top Teacher to to bring you an exciting opportunity!
We recently did a Mystery Google Hangout (GHO) together and it was an AMAZING experience. We posted about it on our Instagram pages, and got a ton of feedback from super teachers that wanted to do Mystery Skypes or GHOs with us, so Sarah created this handy dandy spreadsheet for everyone to sign up on using Google Docs. You can sign up to hangout with both of us!
You might be asking, so what the heck is this anyways? Basically, we sign up for a date to hang out virtually. Sarah or I will call your classroom using the information you provide. Students will take turns asking and answering questions about your location to see who can guess correctly first. The GHO or Skype ends when both classrooms have successfully guessed the location. So, you might be wondering... what are some good questions for my kids to ask?
So, are you feeling ready? Don't worry if this is your first time, we will welcome you with open arms! We know that speaking and listening skills are huge in the common core standards, and GHOs and Skyping provides an authentic audience to practice these skills. The beautiful thing about teaching in the 21st century is that we can connect seamlessly with the world. Let's do it! I'll leave you with a few pictures of our hangout with Ms. Young's rockstars.
